  Frost/Nixon

rating: (out of 4 stars)

United States, United Kingdom, France; 2008
Directed by Ron Howard; produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard; screenplay by Peter Morgan
Starring Frank Langella, Michael Sheen, Kevin Bacon, Sam Rockwell, Oliver Platt, Matthew Macfadyen, Rebecca Hall

'Frost/Nixon' takes some liberties in showing events from 1977, when British talk-show host David Frost interviewed President Richard Nixon about many things, most notably, of course, Watergate. The film takes an effective approach in showing the battle between these two people - played by Michael Sheen (Frost) and Frank Langella (Nixon) - fought out before the rolling cameras. Since the film is from the point-of-view from Frost we get to know the people around him too.

Still, the center of the film are the interviews themselves, almost presented as a thriller. Frost wants an apology from Nixon, but before that can happen the President needs to admit his wrongdoings first.
